Choosing Your Design
Start with meaning
The best first tattoos are ones that mean something to you - but they don't have to be deep. Some people get tattoos to commemorate events, honor loved ones, or express their identity. Others just want something beautiful. Both are valid.
Consider size and placement
For your first tattoo, we often recommend starting medium-small in a spot that's easy to hide if needed (inner arm, upper arm, thigh, back). This lets you experience the process before committing to something highly visible.
Bring references
Even if you can't draw, collect images that capture the vibe, style, or elements you like. Pinterest boards, Instagram saves, and Google images all work great.
Choosing Your Artist
Browse our Artists page and check out their portfolios. Each artist has their own style and specialties. Don't be afraid to request someone whose work resonates with you.

Common Questions
Everything first-timers want to know
What if I don't like the design?
You'll see the stencil on your skin before any ink is applied. If something isn't right, speak up! Your artist wants you to love it.
What if I need to stop halfway through?
This happens rarely, but we can stop and schedule a second session to finish. Communication is key.
What if I feel faint?
Tell your artist immediately. We'll stop, get you some water and a snack, and let you recover. It's more common than you'd think, especially with first tattoos.
Should I tip my artist?
Tips are appreciated but not required. 15-20% is customary if you're happy with your experience.
Can I see the design beforehand?
Most artists share designs 1-3 days before your appointment, giving you time to request changes.
