Proper aftercare is crucial for your tattoo to heal beautifully. Follow these guidelines for the best results.
First 24 Hours
- Leave the bandage on for at least 2-4 hours (or as directed by your artist)
- Wash gently with fragrance-free antibacterial soap
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel - don’t rub
- Apply a thin layer of recommended aftercare ointment
Days 2-14
Washing
- Clean 2-3 times daily with lukewarm water
- Use fragrance-free, antibacterial soap
- Gently pat dry - never scrub
Moisturizing
- Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion 2-3 times daily
- We recommend: Aquaphor, Hustle Butter, or After Inked
- Less is more - don’t over-moisturize
What to Avoid
- ❌ Swimming (pools, ocean, hot tubs)
- ❌ Direct sunlight and tanning beds
- ❌ Picking or scratching (even when it itches!)
- ❌ Tight clothing over the tattoo
- ❌ Working out excessively (sweat can irritate)
The Healing Process
Days 1-3: Redness and some fluid/ink seepage is normal
Days 4-7: Peeling begins - this is normal! Don’t pick.
Days 8-14: Most of the peeling should be complete
Weeks 3-4: Tattoo should be fully healed
When to Contact Us
Reach out immediately if you notice:
- Excessive redness or swelling after day 3
- Pus or unusual discharge
- Fever or feeling unwell
- Rash or allergic reaction
- Excessive scabbing
